Carroll MACC Advertisement

MEDIA: VIDEO + MOTION + DESIGN

DATE: MAY 2019

CLIENT: CARROLL COLLEGE

Carroll College launched its first graduate degree during the 2018-2019 school year: a hybrid online Master of Accountancy degree that could be completed in as little as a year and required just a short introductory on-campus session to begin.

I was commissioned to create a 30-second commercial for regional television to promote the new MACC degree. After a meeting with the program director to establish messaging priorities, I wrote the script and worked with a colleague to record narration. I used a combination of customized Noun Project assets and from-scratch illustrations to build the graphic design panels that make up the video. I was inspired by Jonathan Jarvis' animated infographic/motion design film, “The Crisis of Credit,” but I wanted to skew to a more midcentury modern design aesthetic. I think the off-registration color fills and asymmetrical “speech bubble” elements accomplish that look nicely.

Once the panels were all built and prepped in Photoshop, I added simple animation in Premiere and laid in the narration and music track. The full commercial is embedded above, and a handful of the design panels are included below.
